General Artwork Guidelines 

  • Acceptable file formats include .ai, .eps, and .pdf, created in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Artwork that is placed or linked into documents does not meet requirements.  Please embed all images. 
  • See Personalization requirements for orders with copy changes. 
  • Artwork should be sized to fit the stated imprint area.

 

Art Charges

  • Artwork that does not meet requirements, or needs modification to ensure a quality imprint, will incur art charges at a rate of $60 (C) per hour, with a minimum of $30 (C). 
  • If art charges will be incurred, customer service will notify you prior to setup.
  • Image change fee:  $30 (G) per image, per order.  
  • Signature redrawing fee:  $40 (G)
  • Logo redrawing fee:  $50 (G) and up based on complexity.

 

Proofs

  • No charge for the first two proofs.
  • Additional proofs:  $18 (C)
  • All edits must be requested in writing, and require reproofing and approval.

 

Fonts

  • Simple, bold sans-serif fonts are recommended.
  • Many serif and script fonts contain marks that will not etch properly.
  • On orders without copy changes, outline all fonts.
  • On orders with copy changes, send artwork in both outline and text formats.  
  • See Personalization requirements for instructions on submitting copy changes.
  • Art charges will be incurred on an hourly basis for font searching and matching.  

 

Etching

  • Black and white vector artwork is required.  No grayscale or halftones.  
  • Artwork should be created with a minimum of 1 point line weight.
  • Gaps as well as fills need to be a minimum of 1 point thick.
  • Registered trademark symbols may fill in at small sizes.  0.075" diameter works for most materials.  Use 0.15" diameter for glass.
  • Small logo details may need to be simplified or enlarged for best results.  
  • The smallest etchable sans-serif font is Humnst777 at 9 pt, with a .15 stroke and tracking at 30.
  • The smallest etchable serif font is ZapfCalligr BT at 13 pt, with a .15 stroke and tracking at 30.
  • Colorfill requires gaps between colors of at least 0.25"

 

Printing & PMS Matching

  • Dye Sublimation
    • Uses heat to transfer dye directly into materials. The resulting imprint is long lasting and durable.
    • Unlike screen print and pad printing, it allows full colors and fine details with no additional costs.
    • One limitation of sublimation is that the color white cannot be printed.
    • Printed colors may vary between orders and are not considered defective.  
    • PMS Colors
      • For the closest possible PMS match per order, a PMS matching charge of $50 (G) must be on your PO.  
      • Even with a PMS matching charge on your order, exact color matches are not guaranteed.
      • Color claims will be resolved at the customer's expense if a spec sample is not requested.    
  • Full Color Direct Print
    • Our state of the art UV-LED direct printer creates vibrant full color imprints with exceptional print quality on a wide range of materials and items.
    • White ink is available.
    • For the closest possible PMS match per order, a PMS matching charge of $50 (G) must be on your PO.  Color claims will be resolved at the customer's expense if a PMS matching charge is not on the PO.  Even with a PMS matching charge on your order, exact color matches are not guaranteed.
    • Color claims will be resolved at the customer's expense if a spec sample is not requested.
